Car Free Day Returns With Free Rides On London Transit And Events On Closed Streets

Car Free Day Returns to London

Free Rides on London Transit, Events on Closed Streets

Londoners can enjoy free rides on all London Transit buses and trains and explore car-free streets in Old East Village and Wortley Village on Sunday, September 25, during Car Free Day.

The annual event, which takes place in more than 2,000 cities around the world, promotes active transportation and raises awareness about the environmental and health benefits of reducing car use.

In London, Car Free Day will feature a variety of events, including live music, street performers, bike races, and walking tours. There will also be free bike rentals and helmet fittings available.

Old East Village will be closed to traffic from Dundas Street to Hamilton Road, and Wortley Village will be closed from Bruce Street to Ashland Avenue. The closures will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

London Transit will be offering free rides on all buses and trains on September 25. Riders are encouraged to bring their bikes on board for free.

“Car Free Day is a great opportunity to experience London without the hustle and bustle of traffic,” said Jay Stanford, London Transit’s Manager of Customer Service and Marketing. “We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the free rides and events.”
