Heavy Rains Lead To Waterlogging And Disruptions

Mumbai Rain Update: City Receives Over 300mm of Rainfall in Six Hours

Heavy Rains Lead to Waterlogging and Disruptions

Mumbai has been pounded by heavy rains since early this morning, with various parts of the city receiving over 300 mm of rainfall in just six hours from 1 am to 7 am. The relentless downpour has led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, causing significant disruption to traffic and daily life.

Waterlogging and Local Train Delays

The heavy rains have resulted in severe waterlogging in areas such as Parel, Andheri, and Kurla. Several roads have become impassable for vehicles, while local train services on the Central Line have been delayed due to flooding on tracks.

Powai Lake Overflows

The heavy rains have also caused the Powai Lake to overflow. The lake, which has a storage capacity of 2.4 billion litres, began overflowing early this morning. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any flooding in surrounding areas.

Tomorrow's Weather Forecast

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Mumbai for the next 24 hours. The IMD has issued an orange alert, indicating that very heavy rainfall is likely in the city and surrounding areas.
