Mark Meadows, Trump's Final Chief of Staff, Testifies Before Grand Jury

Multiple Interactions with Special Counsel Jack Smith's Team

Former President Donald Trump's final chief of staff, Mark Meadows, has been cooperating with Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation into the events surrounding the January 6th Capitol riot. According to sources familiar with the matter, Meadows has spoken with Smith's team at least three times this year, including once before a federal grand jury. The grand jury appearance was granted only after Smith granted Meadows immunity to testify under oath.

Case Transfer Request Denied

In a separate legal matter, a US judge has denied a request from Mark Meadows to move his case from state court to federal court. Meadows is currently facing charges in the Georgia election conspiracy inquiry related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. The judge's decision keeps the case in the state court system, where the prosecution is led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

White House Testimony

On Monday, Mark Meadows testified in a federal courtroom in Georgia about his role in questioning the 2020 election results. Meadows, who was Trump's final White House chief of staff, acknowledged that he had helped question the election results but denied any wrongdoing. He is charged along with 18 others in Willis' sweeping racketeering indictment, which alleges that they worked to overturn the election results.
