Mark Meadows Testifies in Fulton County Indictment Hearing

Former Chief of Staff Questioned in Trump Election Interference Probe

August 28, 2023 | Atlanta, GA

In a federal courtroom in Atlanta, former President Donald J. Trump's final chief of staff, Mark Meadows, testified on Monday regarding his alleged involvement in Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

Meadows, who served as Trump's chief of staff from March 2020 to January 2021, has been charged in a sprawling 41-count indictment against Trump and 18 other defendants in Fulton County. The indictment alleges that Trump and his allies engaged in a multi-state conspiracy to interfere with the 2020 election.

During his testimony, Meadows admitted to questioning the results of the Georgia election but denied participating in any illegal activity. He also said that he had communicated with Trump and his allies about the election.

The Fulton County indictment is the latest in a series of legal challenges facing Trump. A federal appeals court is scheduled to consider on Friday whether Meadows can be compelled to testify in a separate investigation into the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The ongoing legal proceedings against Trump and his allies are expected to provide more insight into their attempts to overturn the election and the potential consequences for their actions.
