Eagle Mountain Utah Tumbleweed Storm

Tumbleweed Invasion Blocks Roads in Utah

2024-03-03

Towns and Cities Inundated with Tumbleweeds

Heavy snowfall can cause problems in the winter, but on 3 March 2024, the problem in Utah was caused by tumbleweeds. Winds of 70 to 80 miles per hour had blown across much of Utah for a few days, peaking on Saturday. These high winds uprooted tumbleweeds and sent them rolling across the state.

The tumbleweeds caused problems in several towns and cities, including Eagle Mountain. In Eagle Mountain, the tumbleweeds blocked roads and even some homes were buried. The city was forced to close several roads and bring in heavy equipment to remove the tumbleweeds.

The winds also caused problems for drivers. The tumbleweeds created a hazard on the roads, and several accidents were reported. The Utah Highway Patrol urged drivers to be cautious and to avoid driving if possible.

The winds and tumbleweeds have since subsided, but the cleanup effort is expected to continue for several days.
